Surftech Epoxy Surfboards

Surftech Repairs

For years I have been fixing epoxy surfboards using methods similar to those of fixing traditional surfboards made from polyester resin. It wasn't until Surftech surfboards began gaining in popularity, especially the tuflite boards in which was implemented a sandwich construction of epoxy fiberglass and hi-density foam, that I realized traditional methods of ding repair could no longer be used effectively in repairing these surfboards. Using the traditional means of ding repair was paramount to putting a Band-Aid over the repair. The "wound" was covered but unfortunately the damage below still remained. The structural integrity of the board was still compromised.

Wanting to provide the best service possible to my customers, I contacted Surftech expressing my desire to properly fix their surfboards. After a few conversations by phone and email, I was invited to Santa Cruz to attend a repair class taught by the wonderful "Board Lady", epoxy expert Eva Hollmann. Through her I learned the wonders of repairing epoxy such as, vacuum bagging, applying wood veneer inlays, and replacing softop material.

This section provides examples of Surftech surfboard repairs. The examples shown range from simple rail dings to more complex repairs such as wood veneer inlays, and tuflite buckle repairs.
